There «aa a very lhrge atteudatee at the Flower cSnow Held in St, George's Hall last night, as-d general satisfaction was exjreeeed at the excellence of the display. During the proceedings the Naval Band, under Bandsman MtDermott, kindly played a number of selections in fine style, for which they are deserving of the thanks of the community.

At the close of the show the various exhibits were offered for Bale, Mr J, 13. West officiating as auctioneer, and very satisfactory prices on the whole were realised.

lhe committee wishes us to acknowledge the following further donations : Mr John West 4s, Mrs Is. J. Clentkn hot water jug, Mr X. A. Dunlop 10s, Mr W. L>unttin 2s, and Miss fc.aplcton ss.

Those interested in the flora of New Zealand could not fail to be impressed with the excellence of the exhibit of native flowers at the Flower Show at St. George's Hall. The value of our botanical treasures seems to be increasing, inasmuch as for the first time since the prize for native flowers has been instituted there was in, the best bouquets and collections a total absence of all exotics. Mr. J. W. Hall recommends the cultivation of all such indigenous plants as will readily grow in gardens—as the labor of collecting must be enormous.- As a further inducement to collect or cultivate he will, in future, give an additional prize of 5s for 1 the second best bouquet and second beet collection.
