The suburbs of Auckland have lately been infested by that, undesirable class known as " shoddy clothes men." The detectives have arrested five men, who will be charged with being idle disorderly persons, rogues, *nd vagabonds. i ATTEMOTED SUICIDE.

George Henry Austin, a gum sorter, attempted suicide by taking sal ammoniac, but is now out of danger. THE GLORIOUS FOUKTH, Flags were flying to-day on the principal building in honor of the the " glorious fourth." The meeting which is to be held to-night to present the American Consul with an address promises to be a very enthusiastic affair.
