Auckland, July 2. Captain Huggett, ef the missionary yacht Southern Crow, says that although the annexation of Santa Crux is not of groat importance in itself, yet it forms ano*her link in the chain of British possessions southwards from the Solomon Islands. New Hebrides Group remains to complete the chain, but it is at present under the unsatisfactory joint protectorate of England and France, Santa Crus Islands am very seldom visited by any vessel except the Southern Cross. The population of the annex d islands is 20,000, but there art only three or four white men. '
