Sydney. July 1. The Admiralty authorities are advised that the warship Mohawk has hoisted the British flag on the Santa Grus and Duff, a group of islands stretching between New Hebrides and the Solomons

He stated he was the-only survivor of turner's trading cutter, and that a fortnight previous, while bartering with the natives, the latter attacked them and killed his companions, two Englishmen known as lorn and Martin and an islander native, and also destroyed the cutter. The Mohawk discovered the bodies of the three men, terribly mutilated. The murderers had fled to the bush. The warship burnt the village.
