WEDDING BELLS.

A stylish and pretty wedding was' celebrated in St. George's Church to-1 day at 1.30 p.m., when our much esteemed fellow townsman, Mr D. W. Chapman was united in the bonds of matrimony to Miss Adelheid yon Bernewitz. The «eremony was performed by the Rev. T. O'Callaghan, D.D., in the presence of a large number of friends of the bride and bridegroom. The church was artistically decorated by a few old friends of the bride's in white and gold chrysanthemums. A floral arch and wedding bell were especially beautiful. The bride was given away by Major T. L. Murray, and was dressed in a most becoming and stylish costume of cream serge trimmed with silk, and cream hat of lece and lillies of the valley. She was attended by four bridesmaids, Miss Jessie Reid (niece of the bridegroom), Miss Freda Lawlor, Mis 3 Inez Read, and Miss Eunice O'Callaghan They all wore dainty cream frocks and buttercup sashes and carried exquisite baskets of flowers. The bridegroom's gifts ta them were initial brooches of a most artistic design. The best man j was Mr W. H. Rose, who was assisted in his duties by Mr F. Marris. Mrs yon Bernewitz wore a charming cos tutne of prune colored cloth. A mong the many handsome costumes worn by the guests we noticed Mrs O'Callaghan, stylish costume of sag« green ; Mrs Chapman (mother of the bridegroom), handsome black silk; Mrs Reid (sister of the bridegroom', electric blue gown ; Mrs M. H. Payne, black and heliotrope silk; Mrs Murray, black silk; Mrs Kilgour, black silk; Mrs Beale, heliotrope silk; Mrs Clendon, charming costume of corn-flower blue; Mrs B. F. Adams, pretty blue and white muslin; Mrs Dodd, black velvet and buttercup silk jabot; Miss Adams, pretty heliotrope silk ; Miss Wilson, stylish fawn cloth costume ; Miss Hall, grey costume; Miss Thompson (Auckland), pink silk; Miss E. flagueSmith, dainty white and coral pink muslin ; Miss La wlor, green muslin ; Miss Coney, handsome green cloth costume. After the ceremony the guests <vere entertained at the residence of Mrs yon Bernewitz, where a most recherche af rsrnoon tea was provided. The presents wore very handsome and numerous. The happy pair left for their honeymoon amongst showers of rice and good wishes.
