Jubilee Industrial Exhibition.

Dunedin, Marclt 23. The Jubilee Industrial Exhibition was opened last night in the Agricultural Hall. The Governor and Premier were present. There was a very large attendance. The Premier alluded to the good qualities of the earlier settlers of the Province, and specially mentioned Capt Cargill, Dr. Barnes, and Mr Macandrew.
Lord Ranfurly expressed his deep pleasure at being present on the occasion, and referred to the fact that during the time he had been in the colony he had learned a good deal about Otago. He paid a high compliment to the early settlers, and referred to the progress of industries, especially woollen manufactures and mining. He concluded by declaring the Exhibition open, amidst hearty cheers. The Exhibition generally is nearly complete. It is divided into early history, picture and art gallery, fisheries acclimatisation, education, New Zealand manufactures, and mining and metallurgical courts. The manufacturers' court comprises about 150 bags, and is generally representative of Otago's products, manufactures, and industries. The number of outside exhibitors is I limited, but there are some exhibits . from Melbourne, Christchurch, Wel--1 lington, Taranaki, Nelson, Westport, i Auckland, Tasmania, and Western . Australia. I i The total space devoted to the . Exhibition is 45,000 square feet. ) | The weather is perfect. From early > morning the streets were full of people, ) and it was estimated that Dunedin has I never before held so many people.
