Stdnrt, March 25. At the Stockton Colliery Ehquiry charges of not making proper provision to prevent noxious gases escaping into the workings and after the first explosion of allowing the exploring pnrty to endanger their lives by going into the gassy district against the air cifcrent notwithstanding that they were w»ned by the Inspectors, were held to be proved. Justice Backhouse adjudged MeAuliffe and McDonald equally guilty of gross negligence and carelessess, and ordered the cancellation of their certificates.
