Mt. Eden Methodist Church.
(BT. TELEGRAPH —OWN CORK JSPONDKNX.)
Auckland, March 24. The Supreme Court case with regard to the possession of the Mt. Eden United Methodist Church property arose out of the recent union in New Zealand of the United Methodist Free Church with the Wesleyan Methodist Church. The present action was for the purpose of determining the ownership of the Mount Eden Church, the congregation of which refused to join the union, and claimed that they had a right to retain possession of their church property. At the conclusion of the case for the plaintiff to-day, Mr Cooper, who appeared for defendants, submitted that the defence had no case to, meet, the plaintiff failing to prove that the property ever belonged ! to the United Methodist Free Church. His Honour concurred, and entered judgment (as reported yesterday) for the defendants with costs On the lowest scale. This means that the Mount Eden Church property belongs to the congregation worshipping there* ,
