WHANGAMATA MINING
The Whangamata Proprietary Company are opening up the Luck at Last reef very extensively, and the results so far met with are of a highly promising character. The Inca Company have unearthed what is supposed to be the Luck at Last reof, and tli9 prospects met with are very encouraging. Further development will determine the value and general character of the lode.
The option holders are exploring the various lodes iv the Mikado property, but so far nothing of a sensational character has been met with.
The Ptolemy is being systematically developed by the syndicate who have the option, and they are carrying out some very serviceable prospecting wvrk.
A property known as the Triangle, situated between the Inca and the Luck at Last, have opened up a very promising lode, from which very fair prospects are obtainable. The contractors for the advancement of the crosscut to intersect the reef in this mine have completed their contract of driving 100 ft. There still remains a distance of 60ft to drive before the lode is expected to hand.
Operations in the Golden Mount are being steadily carried on, and the mine is receiving a thorough exploring. The same remarks apply to the Rothschild, Wentworth, Prince Charlie, Marco Polo, Three Star, Wairoa, lolantbe, Sybil, Flemington, and Tamahana Company's mines. In the whole of these properties encouraging prospects are being met with, but nothing of a sensational character has so far been met; still, as the development work proceeds, there is always a hope that something of an important character will be revealed.
BROKE* HILL (Waiomo). Regarding the option over this mine held by the Anglo-Continental Syndicate, it has been extended for tho purpose of advancing the.drive along the ! course of the reef a further distance. But the option held by the same company orer the Oomstock, in the aanio district, has been relinquished.
KARAKA QUEEN. Good progress has been made with the work of rising from No. 2 level to the surface upon the up strike of the reef, and there is now a length of 45ft of stripped reef in readiness to break down. The country incasing this quartz body is all that could be desired, and the manager is hopeful of being able to have a fair output of payable material at hand when the above work is completed.
