At the Wesleyan Conference this ', •veningtbe recommendation of theOtago district that the laws of the Church j be altered so as to allow home missionaries the right to dispense the sacrament of the lord's Supper was lost by . 30 voting for and 36 against it. The ! Rev. H. R. Dewsbury was elected Chairman of the Auckland District t after a ballot tad been taken five times.' During three ballots no candidates ob- , taiued an absolute majority of the votes of members'present and at the last t>vo ballots the Eevs. Williams and Dews- : bury tied. The matter was then set- j tied by the lot falling on Mr Dewsbury.
The Conference closes to-morrow (Tuesday).
