NONPAREIL.

The manager wired to-day:—" Out another small leader in low level crosscut, showing strong dabs of gold." Mr Cartiight informs me the leader looks well, and is apparently a dropper off the Wade reef, which it is anticipated will be duly intersected as this crosscut advances. A splendid description of country prevails, and so long as that continues there is every probability of good results being met with when the Wade reef comes to hand."

ARGOSY. The No. 1 level upon the course of No. 1 reef is being energetically carried on, and although nothing in the form of picked stone has been met, gold has always been seen at each breaking down. A kindly class of country continues to be met with, and the lode varies much in size. By advancing the drive upon its present course all new and untried country will be penetrated, and the chances are that further improvements will be revealed. BIG EEEF.

Driving through the main reef is still being vigorously advanced, so far there is no sign of the other wall, but pleasing to notice the good class of quartz is now being passed through, and the ore yields prospects similar in value to that met with on the higher level, thus showing that the gold bearing stone maintains its quality as depth is reached.

SHERIDAN (tapu.) Excellent progress is being made with the advancement of this company's low level crosscut, and driving at the rate of 15 feet per week is being accomplished. The channel of country being entered upon is of a splendid auriferous character, and if it continues forward to the reef there is every reason to believe that impoitant rosults will be obtained.

CLUB (Tapu.) It is the intention to drive a lower level in the mine, which will have for its purpose the intersection of the new reef now under operation at No. 1 level at a much greater depth. This will not only provide good backs, but will thoroughly exploit the quartz body, whereas if a payable class of ore is wet with developments of a permanent character can then be carried on. Driving upon the same lode at No. 1 level is steadily proceeding, and very fair prospects of gold are obtainable.

INCA (Whangamata). Operations being carried on in this mine udder the supervision of Mr Albert Kunimerl are so far being attended- with, encouraging results. Taking advantage of the fine weather that has prevailed lately, a special effort was made to definitely locate the south continuation of the Luck at Last reef, To carry this idea out trenching was extensively carried on, with the result that a large body of stone was met with, and at the time of forwarding his information to Auckland, the manager says the quartz body had been cut into for a length of 6ft. Colors of free gold were obtained by pounding, whilst the ore is very similar' in character to that being opened up [ in the Luck at Last mine. Mr Kum- j inert is confident he has the latter ( company's lode's continuation, as it has the very same character-1 istics and general peculiarities noticeable in connection with that reef,' It is the intention to open up at depth, , and ascertain the true value and ' general bearing of the lode.
