Orange Blossoma.
A very pretty wedding, which was witnessed by a large number of friends, took place ot St. George's Church yesterday afternoon, the Rev. Dr. O'Callaghan, D.D., offici ting. The, contracting parties were Miss Violet* Newland, eldest daughter of Mr H. G. Newlaud, of Kiri Kfri, aud Mr G. H, Vowles, of Netherton. The bride, who Avas given awaj' by her brother, Mr Goo. Nowland, looked very pretty in a wedding drags of cream* figured silk lustre, and was attended by eight bridesmaids, viz.: Misses Olive and Mabel Newland (sisters of the brid«\ Emily and Laura Adams on, Limo Smith, Zillah Johnsfon, and Mary Dennorly (cousin of the hridp), and Amy Cryor (cousin of tha h;-id°£room), all of whom were very tastefully dressed. The biidcgroom w.n attended by his brother, Mr A. Vowles, as best man, and also by Messrs E. Newland, P. Adams >n, »nd H.Cryer. After the ceremony, the party drove to the Kopu Hall, whero, notwithstanding the threatening weather, some 120 young folk had assembled in response to an invitation of the bride's parents. Dancing, songs ard games were then indulged in until 12 o'clock, when an excellent supper wes served, after which various amusements were followed until about two o'clock, when the happy couple loft for their home at Netherton amid the best wishes of all present. The following contributed to the enjoyment of the evening with songs:—Mr P. Fisher. " Paradise Alley "; Mr J. Jackson " Wreck of the North Fleet"; Misses B. and L.. Adamson, duet, "In happy moments *\; Mr A. Vowles, M The ship that ne'er returned"; Mr D. Adams, " Kiss me mother; kiss your darling " ; Mr F. Adamson, " On the gi-aen mossy banks " ; Miss Elliott, " The pardon came too late " ; Mr A. Elliott (comic), " Oh lot it be soon," and in rosponso to an encore gave " Enoch Brown ", MrW. Fisher, " Ben Bolt" ;Mr T. Adamson, "Fisher Boy" Mr 'izard in a short pithy speech, well suited to tlie occasion, wished thi happy couple every happinen and proposed a voto of thanks to them for their kindness in thus remembering their friends, which was carried with great acclamation. At about 3 o'clock the gathering dispersed, everyone being unanimous in pronouncing it an unqualified success. The music for the dance was contributed by Messrs Hanlon (violin) and Jackson and Ellis (piano), whilst Mr Win. Smith ac'od as M.C. iv his usual efficient manner The happy couple were the ricipient of numerous and valuable presents from all pait* of the district, showing the esteem in which they are held.
