The Cretan Trouble.
THE BEPLY OF GKEECE,
(Per Press Association.)
London, March 8
The Daily News states that the reply of Greece to the Powers is of such a nature that it leaves the way open to renewed parleying. Greece requires the assurance that complete autonomy be granted Crete, and objects to withdraw her forces before tho Turkish forces evacuate it.
Erom Constantinople it is reported that the Greek Embassy has made an offer to the Porte to the effect that Greece would withdrawn her forces from Macedonia if Turkey would follow by withdrawing the Turkish forces from that province.
Reports from Athens stato that a band of Macedonians captured a Turkish position near Grovena. The Athens correspondent of the Times suggests that Prince George of Greece be made the head of the Government. This, it says, would satisfy the Greeks and Cretans.
Athens, March 8
The Porte has accepted a proposal of the Powers granting autonomy to Crete, but reserves the settlement of details concerning the carrying out of tho proposal. Cretan insurgents attempted to blow up the block house at Kalstide. The explosion made breaches in the walls, and killed four men.
It is understood that in the reply to the demands of the Powers Greece refuses to withdraw her forces from Crete.
