THE TAITAPU.

A portion of the crashing machinery for the Golden Ridge mine, of the Taitapu Gold Estates, Limited, arrived in the colony by the R.M.s. Ruapehu, and the remainder is expected very shortly, It 1 order to get the machinery to the nearest available sea coast to the site decided upon for its erection, the management have made strenuous efforts, but shipowners have hesitated to send vessels into the estuary of a small stream into which hitherto no craft has entered. We learn, however, that arrangements have now been made for the charter of a sco»v to convey the machinery into the Sandhills creek, from which point it can easily be conveyed to the machine site. The company is about to erect a twenty head stamper battery, and the machinery inasures 115 tons, so that the scow will have to make a couple of trips in order to deliver the whole. The Golden Ridge mine which is first to be worked 13 situate about a thousand feet above the sea level, but very excellent prospects have been obtained from this portion of the Company's property, and it is hoped, and not without a considerable amount of faith, that the crushirgs will prove highly remunerative.
