At the University Senate the Chance'lfor announced that the examiners for the Bowen prize reported that Alfred Jelly, of Wellington, had won th •-.first prize. Alengthv report was brought up by the Committee on authors and periods and adopted. This report recommended that history be not separated from political economy. Tho definition of " General History and Political Economy " for the B.A. degree was altered so as to read:—"General History: ''General questions on the history of England from 449 to 1850, with a more detailed examination iv history of a selected period." The Various works and periods for future examinations were adopted

The statute re honors in Arts, Latin, and Greek was altered to read : " Questions in Roman or Greek literature, and a detailed examination in the selected works of one prose and one verse author."
