A Struggle With Roughs.

On Tuesday [ morning the accused, who gave their names as William Miller, John Cairns, and Sydney Gardiner, were brought up before Messrs Favitt and Gallagher, J.P.s, and charged with riotous cor duct in a public place, and also with resisting the police. They all pleaded guilty to the first charge, Miller add Cairns pleading not guilty to the latter offence. S. Smardon, Ernest Smardon, and Constable Wild gave evidence and the Justices having considered the offences clearly proven, sentenced the prisoners to three months' imprisonment with hard labor in Mount Eden Gaol.
