The Coal Miners' Trouble.

Sydney, April 14. In consequence of a fear of a strike the price of coal has advanced locally. At a conference of the municipalities at Newcastle a resolution was carried to interview the Premier, who passes Newcastle to-night, in regard to the setting up of an arbitration board comprising three members of the Government, three members of the colliery proprietors, and three representatives of the miners, under the presidency of the Governor to consider, the various phases and differences in the coal trade in the colony, also that pending the decision of such a court the miners to continue work. In an interview the Chairman of one of the mining lodges said the classification of coal was the greatest stumbling block to an an amicable arrangement, as in some smaller pits it was easier to get coal at 2s 6d per ton than in others at 3s.
