AUCKLAND NOTES.

Axjcklakd, Last night.

Last evening Major Holdaway and Captain Parsons (officer in charge of Auckland station, Salvation Army) opened a Swiss Tillage' Fair at Albert street Barracks, in reduction of a current debt. There were six Swiss houses stored with goods of all sorts, and the attendance of the public was large. The bazaar will be opened for some days. The, barracks were tastefully decorated with flags and. greenery. It is hoped to wipe off the debt with the present effort.

For the last day or two business has not been so brisk on the Stock Exchange, the result no doubt of the continuous forming of companies. The near approach of the end of the month, coupled with the fact that at least one bank makes its half-yearly balance for the end of June, may also hate something to do with the falling off of buyers on the Exchange.
