The different sections now under operation are all being vigorously opened up, and the prospects attending them continue to he of a most enteiraging character. The works in the Trenton section are without any great change, insomuch that the operations are confined at present to exploring for the No. 3 reef and rising on the hangingwall of the No. 1 reef with the object of connecting with the tributers' winze. As far as the sounds are concerned, there still remains 7 to Bft of ground separating the two points. It will be seen that the depth of the block is much greater than was at first estimated, and this is all the better for the company, being a further stretch for stoping purposes. The crosscut being put in to intersect the No. 3 reef is still penetrating a splendid class of sandstone, and while that continues there is every probability of meeting with the lode. It is the intention, as soon as the above work is completed, to open out on the No. 1 reef eastward of the crosscut. Queen of the May section : The drive on the No. 4 reef is still penetrating a light but good class of country for gold, and. consequent on the light character of the country progress is somewhat slow. Up to the present the eastern fault has not made its appearance, but should do so at any foot driven. From that point forward an easier class of country will be entered on when a further improvement ia the lode is anticipated. Stoping over this level is being continued as usual, while the stretch of payable ground is becoming greater as the stopes follow on, the drive, which is now forward 270 ft. Ihe northwest drive on the reef is also well forward, having attained the good stretch of of 328 ft. 'Ihis quartz body should now be very close to its junction with, the No. 4 reef. In the face there are fully 2or
3 feet of crushing dirt, iv which gold is very frequently seen. When stoping is commenced on this lode the output of general ore will be very considerable, and will keep the company's 32-siainp mill steadily pounding There is nothing fresh to report from darkens leader in the Saxon section with the exception that the various works continue to produce a fair supply of crushing material.
