Pahiatua Poisoning Case.
ACT SUPPOSED TO BE A WILFUL
ONE.
The Pabiatua poisoning case promises developments. Mr Naylor, senr., from the first had strong suspicions that the poison had been placed in the food by design. It now woald appear, if the suspicions of the police are correct, tba' there was good foundation for Mr Naylor's suspicions, and the inquiries of the police go to show that his statement of the case appears to be thoroughly borne oat. The Woodville Examiner gives the following certain reliable information:—' The poison, it is certain, was arsenic. It was placed in the meat cut tip into slices which was used at the fatal meal The time when it was done was between 12 and 1 o'clock, and it was deliberately placed there with a malicious purpose. The police have of course suspicion of the miscreant who was the cause of this terrible tragedy, and hope to have the chain of evidence completed very shortly. If the theory of the police is correct, the tragedy will prove one of the moßt revolting in the annals of New Zealand crime."
