Tbe chief event for the day was the Eizht Hours Demonstration sports, w ich are beifjp held in ths Metropolitan Ground, Lower Symoad* street. The streets ware crowded with (hoasands of people $o witness the demonstration. The procession was a small ens, but there wera some splendid banners carried. Apart from the several bands of music, there were scarcely 100 people marching. The only feature of interest was the Typo* graphical Society's tro!ly ; on which tbe editorial room was represented, with .the editor, devil, spring poets, and other accessories. The processioa was made up as follows s—Painters' Onion, botchers, sailmakers, railway employe's, bricklayers end plasterers, umbre'.latnakers, ironworkers, tailors, coastal seamen, b?.kers, tobacco factory hands, gum-storeamn, wharf tampers, carters, gas workers, bootmakers, gardeners, saddlers, practical machinists, carp«n!«rp, compositors, and shipwright*. S;r George Grey will deliver an address. Thousands embarked on the various ex* careions, and the races are likely to bo largely attended.
