KARANGAHAKE.
We are informed by an experienced miner who has juifc returned from Karangahake that the Martha claim, beyoDd the Golden Crown, is obtaining rich quartz, estimated to be worth 6 or 7ozs to the ton. Tfao lode is of peculiar formation, sometimes beiog very small for ten or fifteen feet, and then making into a bunch of quartz, perhaps three feet wide. It is these bunches that contain the gold, although of course it does not follow that they are all rich. Our informant also Btateß that Mr La Monte formed a very high opinion of Karangahake as a goldproducing district, and predicted a prosperous future for it.
Woodstock. —Crushing has been commenced at the Hauraki battery with 12 head of stamps, and the dirt is shaping for • similar return to the last.
