Mr J. H. Walter ia the conjunction with Messrs J. Finch, and Jos. Jamet on Thursday lodged a petition with the .Resident Magistrate, praying that H-S. Fish, junr., be outtfed from the position of Mayor of Dunedin, to which he was elected on the ICth ult, on the ground that he was at the time interested in a contract under the corporation. ; - Last night. The petition lodged by the defeated Mayor against Mr Fish, the Mayor elect, is causing intense excitement.
