Concert and Drama.
At St. Joseph's School-room Wil. loughby street, a large audience assembled to hear the concert and drama given by the pupils attending the Convent Select School in aid of a fund now being raised to paint that building. In »n entertainmentof this kind, where all did so well in their respective parts, it would lie scarcely fair for us to single out any particular performer for especial mention, suffice it to saylhat the various pianoforte duets solos &c*, were rendered in a manner highly creditable to the young ladies, and was proof sufficient that th» Sisters upon whom devolves their tuition are fully equal to their task. Of the vocalists we cannot refrain from mentioning the magnificent manner in which Miss Stephenson sang " The Blind Girl to htr Harp" and the "Vale of Avoca"; it was really a pleasure to listen to such singing. Mist Coney also in "Vashti" and another song the name of which we did not catch, was very succiesful and received a well merited encore. The Drama, entitled 'Aunt Maxwell's Keturn* was capitally rendered, each performer entering heartily into tbe spirit of the piece, and the result was that it passed off with* out a hitch. At the close of the concert, the Rev. Father O'Keilly stepped on the platform, and thanked tbe audience for their liberal patronage. He was very glad to see such a Urge number present, including as it did so many belonging to other religious denominations, and he thought it w? i proof of the good feeling that existed amongst them, a feeling it had ever been his desire to foster wherever his lot had been cast. He also desired to thank most heartily the young ladies to whom tbe success of the entertainment was so largely due, at also the gentlemen who had kindly given their services. The National Anthem brought the performance to a close.
