VICTORIA.
When the Chimborazo loft Adelaide on her last homeward bound trip it was rumoured that Ned Kelly was amongst the passengers. The detectives, tuukiug sure they had their man, tapped him on tho ihoulder telling him he ~w&*. wanted.
His language as he ttmied round was couched in vigorous French, so the Kelly delusion was dispelled. It is said the man bad escaped from Noumea, and had run away with another man's wife. He gave her the slip before reaching port, it is said, taking her money with lim.
The main Exhibition building is approaching completion. The dome, "which is already one hundred mid twenty feet hijjh, will bo the only unfinished portion. The Melbourne Chamber of Commerce officially announced with regard to the contract of the P. and O. Company that it was most beneficial for the colonies and practicable under the circumstances. The iron clipper ship Ivanhoe, which went ashore at Bridgeport, near Tami Heads in August, was brought to Melbourne very little hurt. Speculator* purchased her for under £400. The property of the Australia Colliery Company on which nearly £70,000 was spent in developing, has been purchased for £8500.
The mint authorities received another instalment of £25,000 worth of new ailrer.
