Arrival of the Marquis of Nor-
mandy at Melbourne.
Sworn in as Governor.
Melboubne, February 27.
His Excellency the Marquis of Normanby arrived at eight o'clock this evening, and immediately proceeded to Government House where he was sworn in by the Chief Justice in the presence of the Ministers and civic authorities. His Excellency was most cordially received.
Sydney, Thursday.
The Balranald gang of four bushrangers has been courageously captured. A policeman was seriously wounded. The Dubbo Iroops hare captured a new gang of armed bushrangers after a severe conflict. Distinct from the Balranald gang.
The electric light exhibited at Sydney was observed 80 miles. The city was illuminated in the day time.
The Government have engaged twenty Queensland police to assist in tracking the Kcllys.
Maize is quoted at 3s 3d, dull; potatoes, £4; flour, £12 to £13.
It is announced here that a large ex. hibition of wool will be sent from New Zealand to the Sydney International Exhibition.
