The report which has been circulated that the Hon. Col. Whitmore is about to resign his seat in the Cabinet and. go Home is purely without foundation.
It is understood that Henry Bunny, M.H.R., has been appointed a member of the Jackson's Bay Commission.
An examination into, the question of a steam service between England and the Colony, as proposed bj Mr Macandrew, shews that the cost would be about £60,030 per annum.
Orders have been given, for negotiating the purchase of land from the natives on Kapiti and Stephens Islands for light houses.
