Mr Sheehan has just pulled off one of the big Hawke's Bay land cases before the Court of Appeal. The Court gave judgment this morning in the case Karaitiana v. Sutton, substantially in favor of the plaintiff. The decision declares absolutely void all conveyances, mortgages and leases of land made subsequent to the Native Lands Act, 1862, which have not been concurred in by a majority in ralue of the grantees. It is said that upwards of three fourths of the Hawke's Bay land purchases will be prejudicially affected by this judgment.
