DUNEDIN.

This day.

Mr Bathgate, R.M., gave judgment in a case yesterday which has caused considerable comment. A grocer sued one of his customers for £33. Amongst the items was £5 19s for whiskey, which the magistrate ordered to be struck off as he ruled that a grocer could not recover for spirits sold on credit. He further stated that he thought beer and wine should also be disallowed. • The decision has caused some stir among the grocers with bottler licenses. The Times comments on the judgment as most improper.
