SECOND ONE-DAY STRIKE

Wellington Tramwavmen (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON. Dec 5. No trams or City Council buses ran in Wellington to-day. when the tramwav workers held their second one-clay strike. The normal service will De resumed to-morrow, but failing the settlement of their claims by noon or. Thursdav of next week, the men will strike again on Friday. December 14 Seven hundred tramwaymen from a union membership of 776 met for five hours to-day to determine the next step tn their dispute with the Wellington Citv Council over the cancellation of the War Loading bonus and the refusal of the Council to provide transport for early morning workers. A large body of the men argued in favour of continuing the strike tomorrow. but after hearing the views of the National Executive ol the Tramwav*Fmoloyees Union, the mee’ing decided that work would be resumed. A new development was reported to-day. It was an invitation from the Conciliation Commissioner. Mr S. Ritchie, for the parties to meet This thev will do ‘o-morrow afternoon.
