CATCHMENT BOARD

Advance Desired For Plant Acting on the recommendation of the Finance Committee, the South Canterbury Catchment Board decided on Wednesday to request the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council to provide an advancd of £30,000 for the purchase of earth-moving and other plant. Repayment will be made to the Council by accumulation of hire charges to the various works on which the plant will be employed. Owing to the extensive commitments of work which the board will have during the next 12 months, it was also decided to make application to the Council for an advance of £2OOO before the end of 1945. As the year 1946 will entail heavy expenditure in administration, due to the programme of work, the Council is to be notified that the board will require a £lO.OOO advance during the year ending March 31. 1947. The amount of this advance will be repaid by the collection of rates and by the charges for engineering fees from the various w’orks when same are collected from subsidies.
