Trophies Presented

The Geraldine Golf Club’s course was in excellent condition for the closing of the season. The president <Mr E. E. Scott) congratulated the winners of trophies, and thanked all who had helped to make the season a success.

Trophies were presented as follows: Men’s championship, M. Watson; junior championship, E. E. Scott; Kerr Quaich, M. Watson; women’s intermediate championship, Mrs A, L. Brenton; women's junior championship, Miss E. Undrill; Tripp Cup, Miss E. A. Clark and J. Robertson; LeCren Cup, Mrs E. P. Bennett and Miss E. Undrill, with Miss E. A. Clark and Mrs A. J. Burmester as runners-up; Sharpe Cup, Mrs S. M. Coxhead; bronze medal, Miss E. A. Clark; mixed Canadian foursome, Mrs W. H. Kirk and F. W. Bean. A mixed foursome, played on closing day, was won by Miss Hill and R. Patrick. Personal Miss Eileen Hutt, Huffey Street, is spending her annual leave in Christchurch. Mr P. G. Withers returned yesterday from Christchurch, where he attended a meeting of the Canterbury Provincial Patriotic Council. Girls’ Friendly Society A successful dance for young people, organised by the Geraldine Girls’ FrfSndly Society, was held in the Parish Hall when there was an attendance of about 80. A lucky spot waltz was won by Miss Betty Volckman and Mr Mattinson. while a Monte Carlo was won by Miss King and partner. Bowling The following teams will represent Geraldine against Ashbury at Ashbury to-morrow: Burmester (s), Malcolmson. Smallbone, Broad; Hamilton (s), Willoughby, Neutze, J. Robertson; Simpson (s). Malins, Anderson, Knibb; Marshall (s), Hall, Watts, Logan. (Cars will leave the green at 1 p.m.) Tennis The following will represent Geraldine against Rangitata to-morrow at Geraldine: W. J. Rule, B. Robertson, F. Barton, J. Kernohan, Mrs M. Hughes, Misses M. Finlay, S. Watson, F. Burmester.
