FREEDOM GRANTED
Austrian Newspapers (12.10 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 2. The Allied Control Council has granted freedom for all Austrian newspapers and periodicals, says the Vienna corresnondent of the Associated Press. Editors have been warned that their publications are Habit? to temporary or permanent suppression if they violate certain conditions. These are: (1) The papers must support democratic principles and oppose Nazi militarist ideologies: <2) they must not publish material likely to endanger military security; <3l they must abstain from publishing malicious material against the occupying forces aimed at disrupting Allied unity or creating hostility against the Allies among the people. Marshal Koniev (Russia) was slightly injured when his car on the way to the Council meeting skidded and collided with a civilian car. His face was cut, but he went on to the meeting.
