CLAREMONT The Claremont Women's Institute held its annual spring flower show’ on Saturday. Mrs Ward. Mrs McVey and Miss Moffatt judged the entries. The following obtained first place in each class: Long trumpet, yellow’, Mrs Gibson; white, Mrs Gibson; bl-colour. Mrs Gibson. Short trumpet, Mrs Talbot; bi-colour, Mrs I Gibson. Jonquils. BLUECLIFFS Miss Cairns presided at a meeting of the Bluecliffs Women’s Institute Mrs Harrison reported on the group meeting. Mrs T. Ward and Mrs Bowman w’ere appointed delegates to the half-yearly meeting at Timaru. It was agreed that this year a parcel be sent to the link in England. Miss Cairns gave a talk on Ireland and several Irish sones were sung. Mrs Vincent paid a tribute to Miss Cairns for her help at all times and wished her success in her new’ sphere. Mesdames Vincent. Johnston and Cock.'were the hostesses. Winners of the competitions were:— Handwork. Miss MeAlwee 1. Mrs Vincent 2; cookery. Mrs Vincent 1, Mrs. Collier 2; premier bloom. Mrs D. Kirk 1. Mrs T. Ward 2. Miss MeAlwee 3; weeds (six named). Miss MeAlwee 1. Mrs Collier 2. Mrs Harrison and Mrs Browm cloved the accompaniments foi the singers.
