WINCHESTER
Baths Committee A meeting of the Baths Committee was held in the school on Wednesday evening. Mr S. Priest presided. The secretary (Mr J. T. Baker) gave a detailed account of negotiations up to the present. The delay, he explained in proceeding with the project, had been due to the large amount of correspondence between the committee and the various Government departments concerned, as the Public Works were to do the work. Word had now been received from the Education Department that a £ for £ subsidy had been granted as well as a subsidy from the Hobson Trust. The required amount of £4OO to commence the work was now in sight. It was agreed to finish the canvass of the district so that the amount could be paid to the Public Works Department and work started as soon as possible.
