ITALIAN TENOR
Kidnapping Attempt Reported LONDON, September 27. The Italian News Agency broadcast a report that the singer.' Banjamino Gigli, was kidnapped by a man who was visiting Gigli and warned him that he was about to be arrested. He then offered to run the tenor by car to see the Under-Secretary of Justice. Gigli accepted and has not been seen since. A later message from Rome stated that Gigli returned home safely. The police state that two unidentified men persuaded Gigli to accompany them to a lawyer, after telling him he was about to be arrested. Gigli later visited police headquarters, where he was informed there were no charges against him.
