Delivery May Be Resumed Milk Zoning To Stay (N.Z.P.A., WELLINGTON. Sept 27. “All zoning arrangements relating to retail collection and deliver;, by ntotor services of bakers, butchers, grocers and clothiers and dry cleaners are abolished. Milk zoning is to be continued.” said the Minister of Transport (lite Hon. J. O’Brien' to-day, who added that Milk Delivery Regulations. 1945. gazetted to-day revoke the delivery emergency regulations which authorised zoning schemes and provide that the zoning of milk deliveries is taken over and continued under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Marketing. “Mv colleague, the Minister of Supply and Munitions, has arranged that retailers dealing in the commodities and services now freed from zoning would be allowed such additional increases in petrol they could justify for running some reasonable collection and delivery services.” said th» Minister. "It is not possible at present to relax the tyre restrictions, and anv increased services must necessarily be run in the meantime on existing tyres. The general effect of abolishing the zoning arrangements,’. concluded the Minister, will be to lighten the great burden of the •fetching and carrying’ which has been so patiently borne by the housewife and others during the w’ar years and to restore as far as possible to the consumer his traditional right .of choice when making his purchases."
