FAULTY BICYCLES
Astonishing Number In Wellington (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. It was reported at the meeting of the Road Safety Council to-day that only eight bicycles out of 354 recently inspected at a high school in the Wellington metropolitan area were in perfect condition. There were a variety of faults, including inadequate brakes, faulty or no lighting, no rear reflectors or white mudguards, loose heads and other mechanical defects. It was decided to arrange for bicycles in other schools to be inspected, and to emphasise the necessity for the regulations with regard to cycles and their conditions to be strictly observed.
