TRADE UNION CONGRESS
Session In Paris PARIS. September 25. The World Trade Union Congress attended by representatives of 60,030,890 workers opened in the vast nrnfusely beflagged Palais de Chaillot. The main item on the agenda is the formation of the new world organisation to replace the old international Federation of Trade Unions. M. Leon Jouhaux. in his presidential address to delegates, dwelt on the need lor the elimination of trusts and cartels. He declared that workers must exercise unity and vigilance and maintain a close watch on the younger generation which was so widely trained to use force. Russia and France were among those who voted ?gainst the resolution to appoint a seventh chairman representing the smaller nations. The resolution was carried by 130 votes to 83. and M. A. Lindberg, of Sweden, was elected.
