ALIENATION OF PIECE OF PARK

Lands Committee Hears Evidence (F.0.P.R.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 26. The vexed question of whether the Timaru Borough Council should be permitted to transfer two pieces oi timaru Park to the Hospital Board to enable hospital extensions to be carried out which was before the House last vear is once again occupying the attention of the Lands Committee of proceedings of the Select Committees of the House are not in public, and it will be necessary to wait until the report is sumitted to the House before the decision is known In addition to the Mayor of Timaru (Mr E. S. Hanan) and the Town Clerk (Mr J. M. Jenkins' there are In Wellington for the hearing of the matter Messrs E. MacDonald and H. G. Navlor representing the Hospital Board, and also Mrs W. S. Minehan from the Electors’ Association and Cr. R. Green. Further evidence is to be heard to-morrow. Members of the Lands Committee comprise six Government and four Opposition members, the personnel being as follows: Messrs R. Coulter, C M. Williams, E. L. Cullen. F Lanestone. C. F. Skinner, and E. P. Meachen (chairman), who are the Government representatives. and Messrs E. B. Corbett. R. G. Gerard. E. B Gordon, and D. C. Kidd. For some time Mr Coulter has been on the sick list.
