Congratulations From Minister “I am sincerely sorry that I cannot be with you on the night of your annual meeting and smoke concert, and I wish to convey to you the Government’s appreciation of the work you have done to speed up wartime production and to lessen the difficulties which farmers, along with others, have had to suffer because of the shortages.” This message from the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. B. Roberts), was received at the annual meeting of councils and committees of the South Canterbury Production Council on Tuesday evening. “This work and service has now brought us complete victory.” said the Minister. “Let us then rejoice with wholehearted gratitude, and while we rejoice together in this favoured land, let us again resolve voluntarily to continue to do all in our power to feed our noble kinsmen in Great Britain, without whose steadfastness and work, our freedom would have been lost. Let us dedicate ourselves to building a better world.” The chairman (Mr L. V. Talbot) extended a welcome to visitors after which the annual report was adopted In the course <-f the evening items were given by Messrs A. Shrimoton. A B. Struthers, A. McLay and W. Husc.
