OWNER’S HORSES BANNED
Sequel To Doping Charge (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 25. Mayfowl, owned by Mr Alex Higgins, will not be permitted to run in the Metropolitan and other races at the Randwick Spring meeting, because the Australian Jockey Club has received cable advice from India that Higgins had been warped off for alleged doping of the racehorse, Han, winner of the Ascot Blate at Poppa. The action was taken by the stewards of the Royal Western India Turf Club. They inquired into the running of Han, and ested, its saliva after the race. Higgins’ explanation in answer to the doping allegations was not accepted by the stewards. Higgins' disqualification is far-reach-ing. In addition to Mayfowl, other horses owned by Higgins in Sydney and Melbourne are automatically disqualified. They include Ethics, a candidate for the Victoria Derby and Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. Higgins has been a leading trainer in India for many years, and a good buyer of horses in Australia.
