DOWNLANDS SCHEME
Completion When Pipes Arrive (F O P R.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 26. A reply was given hi the House today bv the Hon. R. Semple to a question bv Mr D c. Kidd as to whether, as soon as pipes became available, tne Minister would proceed with the Downlands water scheme. “The question," said Mr bempie apparently refers to the extension ol the Downiands water sunnlv scheme covering the foothills between the Pareora and Otaio Rivers, m the waimate County. The reservoir from which water will be supplied to tin. area has been constructed, the necessary concrete water trough-- hate been made, and certain of the largest diameter pipes have been procured. The small diameter heavy-gauee sary was ordered from England some months ago. and when this is' de it is intended to complete the water supply to the area concerned. ’
