SUPER ATOMIC BOMB
Kill Millions In One Operation (7.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Sept. 24. A super atomic bomb has been developed which would make the Hiroshima bomb like a small firecracker, Mr Leslie C. Arends told the House of Representatives. It is already possible to drop atomic charges on our large cities and kill millions of unsuspecting inhabitants in one operation. Hence the world’s most dangerous spots are Washington, New York and other large American cities. Therefore, Labour management must henceforth be considered an important part of national defence and within a decade the United States must make far-reaching changes in decentralisating cities and industries. Mr Arends introduced a Bill establishing a Commission composed of scientists, industrial research experts and other leading citizens to study revisions in national defence necessitated by the atomic bomb and other ‘‘diabolical inventions of war."
