CONTROLLED BY ALLIES

Nazi Concerns In Spain (7.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Sept. 24. The State Department disclosed that British and American agents directly control all German Government-owned industries in Spain.

The United States and the Allies, in accordance with declarations, asserted their title to all such property. Moreover, the Allied Control Commission in Berlin is at present considering a proposal to permit Allied agents to seize private—or so-called private—German property abroad, particularly in Spain, Portugal, Sweden. Switzerland and Argentina.

State Department experts, describing the vast, subtle Nazi economic network which grew in Spain during the war, mentioned that “Sofindus" was established as a clearing house for almost all of Hitler’s economic, war and supply needs available in Spain. “Sofindus” at present is headed by an American president, a British vicepresident and an American secretary. In addition the United States rejected General Franco’s request for the reopening of five large German schools in Madrid and Barcelona. It described the schools as Government-controlled agencies of Nazism.
