GERALDINE RECORD ENTRIES
Rugby Tournament Forty-three entries —a record—have been received for the revived tournament of the Geraldine Sports' Association which will be held on Saturday. There are 11 entries in the senior grade, three in the junior grade, 11 in the third grade, 12 in the fourth grade, and six in the fifth grade. The senior teams entered include Celtic, Hinds. Geraldine Second N.Z.E.F., Temuka, Temuka Second N.Z.E.F., Rakaia, Geraldine, Zingari, Old Boys A, Star and Old Boys B. South and Mid-Canterbury clubs are well represented, and in addition teams will come from Christchurch. New Public Hospital “The Pines” site, which has been purchased for a new public hospital at Geraldine, was inspected yesterday by Dr. McNickle, Director of the Division of Hospitals, Department of Health. He was accompanied by the Mayor of Geraldine (Mr D. C. McKechnie), who is chairman of the local committee which has ur-ped the establishment of a hospital to serve the Geraldine area, and one of the Department’s architects. Dr. McNickle also visited the maternity hospital and the private hospital at Geraldine.
