Basketball *ln the local basketball competition Country won by a narrow margin and as a result will receive the club's trophv. Points were:—Country 6, High School 5, Kowhai 5. Kiwi 5. To wind up a successful season the club has invited members of the local football teams to play a friendly game. Bad Weather The township observed the annual statutory holiday for Anniversary Dayon Monday. Unfortunately the day was very wet. Creeks and rivers are running high. Several approaches to bridges have again been washed out, and the main road between Kimbell and Horseshoe Bend was threatened by the Opihi River, which again nearly broke through. No serious damage has been reported but roads are again in bad condition.
