SPECIAL MEDAL
Honour For General Marshall WASHINGTON, Sept. 23. The Senate Military Affairs Committee approved of a resolution authorising a special gold medal to be struck for General George Marshall, Chief of the United States Army, “to tender the thanks of Congress to him and the officers and men who served under him in World War II.” The Committee Chairman, Senator Thomas, said the only other such medal previously authorised was for General Ulysses Grant. President Truman has presented Mr H. L. Stimson, former Secretary for War, with a Distinguished Service Medal.
