Ties With Britain (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 16. King George has sent a message to General de Gaulle as follows: “I am happy to send to you my sincere congratulations and those of my Government. The people of our countries in their long and varied history at times have been divided by differences and quarrels, and .at others have been united bv tics of friendship and common interests. There never was a more supreme or propitious time, never more such imperative reasons for strengthening the tie which was welded under the onslaught of the common enemy. “It is my sincere hope that we shall go forward together in complete unity toward a lasting peace.” I General de Gaulle, in reply, said: I “Victory sees our two peoples united i as thev were at, the beginning of the war. Events have proved that nothing can break the links uniting us and prevent the triumph of our ideals.”
