Following Churchill’s Resignation Approved By King By Telegraph—N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright LONDON, August 13. The King has approved the following honours and awards arising from Mr Churchill's resignation:— Defence List Barons.—Field-Marshal Sir Alan Brooke, Chief of the Imperial General Staff; Admiral of the Fleet Sir Andrew Cunningham; Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Charles Portal. Companion of Honour. —General Sir Hastings Ismay, Mr Churchill’s military adviser. Mr Churchill submitted those names with Mr Attlee’s approval. K.C.B.—Major-General Willis Rowland Jefferies, for his original work in the development of special war weapons. C.B.E.—Colonel Kenneth Grant Post, for his work against the V weapons. K.B.E.—Captain Richard Pike Pirn, lately supervisor of the Prime Minister's defence map room and head of the Upper War Room at the Admiralty. Private Office List Baronet. —Mr George Steven Harvie Watt, Parliamentary private secretary to Mr Churchill from 1941 to 1945, for his political services. C.B.—Mr John Miller Martin, principal private secretary to Mr Churchill from 1941 to 1945. C.M.G. —Commander Charles Ralfe Thompson, personal attendant to Mr Churchill from 1940 to 1945. C.B.E.—Mr George Donald Alastair MacDougall, chief assistant in the Prime Minister’s statistical branch throughout the war. Political and Public Services List Viscounts. —Baron Kemsley, chairman of Kemsley Newspapers, Ltd., and Baron Marchwood, honorary treasurer of the Conservative Party since 1938. Barons. —Sir George Broadbridge. Sir William Davison, Sir Leonard Lyle, and the former Minister of Food, Colonel J. J. Liewellin. Privy Counsellor. —Sir Cuthbert Headlam. Baronets. —Mr Ralph Assheton, Mr Harold Mitchell, and Sir Walter Womersley, former members of the House of Commons. Knights.—Mr Robert Cary, former member of the House of Commons; Mr A. P. Herbert, M.P., Mr David Robertson, M.P., Mr Basil Neven-Spence, M.P., and Brigadier E. P. Riddell. Companions of Honour.—The former Secretary of State for India (Mr L. S. Amery) and the former Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (Mr Ernest Brown).
